Second Saturday Practice Session Report - Results

Ralf Schumacher sets the fastest time of the session ahead of Juan Pablo Montoya and David Coulthard. Michael Schumacher, Jenson Button and Jarno Trulli make the top 6.

Ralf was the only driver to set a time below the 1:34 mark. His time was just under 2 seconds faster than the Pole time of last year. We could see a Pole time of under 1:33 this afternoon.

The session was one of the least active in recent memory with most drivers doing just 2 or 3 runs. It appears that the main concern for the teams was to conserve their tyres for Qualifying and the Race on Sunday.

There were no major incidents during the session.

Fisichella, Frentzen and Ralf Schumacher covered the most number of laps with 16 each while Mika Hakkinen only covered 5 laps, Raikkonen just 6 and Trulli only covered 7 laps. All other drivers covered between 8 and 15 laps.

Overall for both practice sessions, Fisichella covered 32 laps followed by Ralf Schumacher with 31 while Jarno Trulli just completed 11 laps and Jean Alesi just 13.
It appears that the Bridgestone runners are trying to conserve their tyres with the 8 drivers who covered the least number of laps were Bridgestone runners while the 6 drivers who covered the most number of laps were Michelin runners.

It appears that we'll have a close fight between Williams, McLaren and Ferrari for Pole position but it looks like Williams with Michelin have an advatange.

Qualifying starts at 1:00 PM local time. Go to the Live Update page for live coverage during Qualifying.
