Second Friday Practice Session Report - Results

David Coulthard put in a stunning lap time to top the timesheets at the end of the second practice session ahead of Michael Schumacher and team-mate Kimi Raikkonen. Rubens Barrichello, Juan Pablo Montoya and Ralf Schumacher make the top 6.

Jarno Trulli and Jenson Button ended up 7th and 8th while Mika Salo was 9th and Olivier Panis rounded up the top 10.

A number of drivers spun during the session but they all managed to recover. Alex Yoong suffered a mechanical problem and had to stop on the track with 20 minutes to go.
Olivier Panis covered the most number of laps again this session with 27 followed by both Felipe Massa and Jenson Button with 26 laps each. Enrique Bernoldi and Mark Webber covered the least number of laps with 14 laps each.
Overall, Oliver Panis covered a total of 54 laps and that is just 6 laps less than the race distance here at the Nurburgring!.

It appears that the Michelin tyres have an edge here as 7 out of the top 10 were Michelin runners.

The McLaren team may have bounced back this session against the Ferraris but as we don't really know what kind of fuel loads they were running, we won't know for sure until qualifying tomorrow. It certainly looks interesting though!

Note: The 2 practice sessions and the Qualifying session all start 45 minutes earlier than usual in order to avoid a clash between the Qualifying session and the World Cup Quarter final match between Senegal and Turkey.
Check the Schedule on the main European GP page for more details.
