| 1. | David Coulthard - McLaren | David
Coulthard wins the race after passing Rubens Barrichello who
started from pole. Barrichello retires afterwards with hydraulic
failure. Mika Hakkinen finished 2nd after being passed at the start by Coulthard. Michael Schumacher finished in 3rd after starting from 6th on the grid and was running in 8th early in the race but a brilliant pit strategy and a few retirements in front of him get him into 3rd. 15 cars were classified as finishers. McLaren, Williams, Benetton, Sauber, Jaguar and Minardi managed to finish both their cars. Arrows and BAR failed to finish either of their cars. |
