Second Saturday Practice Session Report - Results

Michael Schumacher improved on his time from the morning setting a stunning time of 1:08.433. That is over a whole second faster than last year's Pole time. Expect a Pole time this afternoon in the 1:07's!.
Michael was in a class of his own this session with Barrichello unable to match his team-mate and ending up over 0.7 seconds behind in second place. Ralf Schumacher int he Williams recovered to set the 3rd fastest time and under a tenth of a second slower than Barrichello. Juan Pablo Montoya took 4th for Williams.
Heinz Harald Frentzen continued to show the strength of the Arrows setting the 5th fastest time. The only thing that could drop him back in qualifying would be the Michelin tyres.
Felipe Massa continued to impress as well setting the 6th fastest time ahead of his team-mate Nick Heidfeld in 7th.

It was once again a mainly Bridgestone affair at the top with 7 of the top 10 runner their rubber. The 2 Williams and Raikkonen were the only Michelin runners in the top 10. If the conditions remain dry and the temperature improve, expect a number of other Michelin runners to move into the top 10 particularly Coulthard and the 2 Renault drivers.

Similar to the second session yesterday, this session saw a number of drivers going off. Most recovered however Enrique Bernoldi spun towards the end of the session and got stuck in the gravel trap.

Olivier Panis and Giancarlo Fisichella both covered the most number of laps with 24 while Ralf Schumacher and Jacques Villeneuve were next with 23 laps each. Enrique Bernoldi and his team-mate Heinz Harald Frentzen covered the least number of laps with 11 each while Mark Webber managed just 12 laps. All other drivers covered between 13 and 21 laps.

Overall in both sessions, Olivier Panis covered a massive 48 laps followed by Ralf Schumacher with 43. Bernoldi and Frentzen covered the least number of laps with 25 laps each.

The midfield remains extremely close with under a second separating 2nd and 15th!. Expect a very close qualifying session.

Qualifying starts at 1:00 PM local time. Our coverage will start at 12:45 PM local time.
