Warm-up Session Report - Results

Michael Schumacher set the fastest time ahead of Rubens Barrichello and Mika Hakkinen. Ralf Schumacher, Jarno Trulli and David Coulthard make the top 6.

Both Ferrari's appear strong for the race with Michael setting a time of 1:15.971 and 0.174 seconds ahead of his team-mate. Mika Hakkinen was 0.337 seconds behind. Ralf Schumacher and Jarno Trulli are close behind. David Coulthard and Olivier Panis were just over 0.7 seconds off the pace while Juan Pablo Montoya in 8th was over a second behind.

No major incidents during the session except for a spin by Alonso towards the end of the session which saw him stuck in the gravel trap. He still managed to be in 17th place ahead of both Arrows and both Benettons and his team-mate.

Jacques Villeneuve covered the most number of laps with 19 followed by Verstappen and Heidfeld with 17 laps each. Jenson Button continues to struggle with his Benetton only managing 4 laps. Most other drivers completed between 12 and 15 laps.

The race appears set to be a fight between Ferrari, Williams and McLaren and with the weather forecast predicting scattered showers in the afternoon, the race could be really exciting.
