Schumacher wins the race from start to finish surprising everyone
as the expectation was that McLaren would be dominant. Mika
Hakkinen finished without making any impression on Michael. Ralf
Schumacher benefited from a 4 car pile up on lap 1 to finish 3rd.
Verstappen, Wurz and Zonta finished in the points due to the high
number of retirements.
Coulthard, Barrichello, Trulli, Frentzen, de la Rosa and Herbert
were all eliminated on the second corner on the first lap.
A fire marshal was killed from the debris.
12 cars crossed the finish line.
Benetton, Sauber and Minardi managed to finish both their cars.
