Warm-up Session Report - Results

David Coulthard continued his impressive form as he sets the fastest time in the warm-up ahead of Ralf Schumacher and Mika Hakkinen. An impressive Nick Heidfeld was in 4th ahead of Rubens Barrichello and Michael Schumacher.

7th was Frentzen ahead of Raikkonen, Panis and Trulli in 10th place.

David Coulthard was 0.287 ahead of Ralf Schumacher. Hakkinen was 0.4 seconds off the pace while Heidfeld, Barrichello and Michael Schumacher were around half a second off the pace.

The session had no major incidents although Fernando Alonso had a car failure and had to run back and get the spare car. Ralf Schumacher had a moment when he went through the gravel but recovered.

Jarno Trulli and Giancarlo Fisichella covered the most number of laps with 16 followed by Panis and Villeneuve with 15 laps each. Jenson Button only managed 5 laps while Luciano Burti only did 6 laps and Fernando Alonso did 7 laps. Most other drivers covered between 10 and 14 laps.

It is hard to read the times of the warm-up session but the lack of pace by both the Ferrari's could indicate they are running a heavier fuel load. Same applies to Montoya who ended up in 13th place while Ralf was 2nd fastest. It is all guessing at this stage and we'll see how they will do in the race.
