F1 News - Teams to ask for 2012 calendar 'rethink' - July, 2011 |
Jul.31 (GMM) Formula one teams are concerned about the latest version of the provisional calendar for 2012. With Turkey scrapped and Bahrain shuffled to the end of the schedule, Bernie Ecclestone circulated a revised version of next year's calendar in the paddock of the Hungaroring.A wire report by Sapa-AFP said the teams will ask the F1 chief executive to reconsider the latter part of the proposed calendar, due to the scheduling of seven races - including Japan/Korea, Abu Dhabi/Bahrain and US/Brazil back-to-backs - within a ten week period."We plan actually to ask for a rethink for the logistics," confirmed Renault team boss and FOTA deputy chairman Eric Boullier."It is to make it a little bit easier for the task force and a bit cheaper by way of moving logistics differently. We have a thought between us already and we would like to suggest a couple of ideas," he said."We are not involved in the final decision of the calendar, but I understand it is not definite so we have room to ask for discussion and to make suggestions."FOTA chairman Martin Whitmarsh added: "The calendar is tough, but I understand it is going to change again. So, until we have the final calendar, there is no point complaining about a provisional one."F1 News F1 Schedule F1 Line-up Constructors' Championship Drivers' Championship F1 Tickets Live F1 Coverage Full Version: Formula 1 News Formula 1 Schedule Formula 1 Line-up Constructors' Championship Drivers' Championship Live F1 Coverage 10 'n' Pole F1 Regulations The Forums Motorsport Shop F1 Merchandise F1 Tickets F1 Diecast F1 Videos F1 Games Back To Top |
