F1 News - Hamilton to no longer be managed by father - March, 2010 |
Mar.2 (GMM) Lewis Hamilton will no longer be managed by his father Anthony. The 25-year-old confirmed in a teleconference on Tuesday that he is now mature enough to tread his own path, and wants a better relationship with Anthony Hamilton. At the same time on Tuesday, it emerged that Hamilton Snr's new Silverstone based business GP Prep, giving drivers the chance to test F1 cars outside of the sport's tight test restrictions, had obtained Bernie Ecclestone's official approval."We believe that we offer the best test and development career path solution for rookie racing drivers who aspire to become formula one racing drivers," said Hamilton, who now manages the Force India reserve driver Paul di Resta.McLaren's Hamilton debuted in 2007, but his career has been guided by his career since he was a boy."But all of this time (in F1) we were discussing bringing someone else in, we never quite had the confidence to do it. I think we're now at the point where we are looking to take that step -- and I think it is a positive step," Lewis Hamilton is quoted as saying by the Telegraph. He said he is in "no rush" to find a new manager, because McLaren is able to handle his day-to-day affairs.Hamilton also said his father is unlikely to attend every race in 2010."He has been at every single race of my life, so that will be a new experience for him," said the 2008 world champion.F1 News F1 Schedule F1 Line-up Constructors' Championship Drivers' Championship F1 Tickets Live F1 Coverage Full Version: Formula 1 News Formula 1 Schedule Formula 1 Line-up Constructors' Championship Drivers' Championship Live F1 Coverage 10 'n' Pole F1 Regulations The Forums Motorsport Shop F1 Merchandise F1 Tickets F1 Diecast F1 Videos F1 Games Back To Top |
