Oct.28 (GMM) Fernando Alonso says he will understand within weeks what is going on in the McLaren boardroom.
At the moment, there are strong rumours that team supremo Ron Dennis is fighting to keep his position, after falling out with fellow shareholders.
“I’m not going to talk about individuals, but I think the team’s in a good place,” was all Jenson Button would say in Mexico.
Asked if he can sense the friction, however, the Briton added: “All I can say on the matter is what I’ve already said.”
But teammate Alonso, who will still be racing with the Honda-powered team in 2017, sounded more keen to know what is happening.
“Between Mexico and Brazil, or after Abu Dhabi, we will sit with the team and know exactly what is the truth behind all these things,” he said in Mexico.
“Right now I can’t tell you much.”
When asked to comment on Dennis specifically, with whom Alonso fell out spectacularly back in 2017, the double world champion answered: “Obviously Ron is part of McLaren, and McLaren is part of Ron.
“First we need to understand what is the real situation, and if there is any changes, what they are,” Alonso said.
