Sep.26 (GMM) Abu Dhabi’s F1 boss is hoping the 2016 world championship goes right down to the wire.
Mercedes’ Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton are separated by just 8 points with 6 races to go in this year’s championship, which will conclude with the spectacular Yas Marina race at the end of November.
And the track’s chief executive, Al Tareq Al Ameri, said he hopes Abu Dhabi stays on the calendar for a long time.
“Absolutely, we’re here for the long term,” he told the Arab news service Al Bawaba.
But that’s not to say he doesn’t hope Abu Dhabi gets the most out of its season finale slot with a thrilling end to this year’s title battle.
“Obviously what happens on track is key for us,” he said. “This year, it’s looking good as Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton fight it out for the championship.
“There are no guarantees, of course, but it looks like that battle could go to the last race.”
