Feb.27 (GMM) Fernando Alonso on Friday declared himself “completely fine” after his Barcelona crash and four-day hospitalisation.
The circumstances of the McLaren-Honda’s seemingly innocuous bump against the wall last Sunday has triggered wild rumours of KERS electrocution or seizure.
McLaren supremo Ron Dennis muddied the waters further on Thursday by telling reporters the Spaniard was not even concussed.
That was despite team boss Eric Boullier having said earlier: “Fortunately, he’s fine, but was concussed during the accident which required an overnight stay in hospital as a precaution.
“That’s normal practice after a concussion.”
So with mystery still swirling and Alonso’s participation in the season opening Australian grand prix in doubt, the 33-year-old took to Youtube on Friday where he declared in his Oviedo garden: “As you can see, I am completely fine.
“I would like to be at the test,” Alonso smiled, “but the doctors’ recommendation was to wait a little bit, a couple of days.
“So I will rest this weekend and keep you updated next week with progress. See you very soon on the track and thanks for all the support,” he added.
