Sep.23 (GMM) The logos of German insurance group Allianz are adorning the formula one safety car in the Singapore pitlane.

Recently, it was rumoured that the Munich based global company was set to sponsor Mercedes GP.

In fact, the deal ? announced by Bernie Ecclestone in Singapore on Thursday ? is the first ever sponsor branding deal for the sport's safety and medical cars, provided by Mercedes-Benz.

"This is a first and it makes us a little proud," said Allianz vice president Christian Deuringer on Thursday.
